Atomic Industry Development Association (AIDA) and Korea Nuclear Association (KNA) signed Memorandum of Understanding on nuclear energy development

The Atomic Industry Development Association (AIDA) and the Korea Nuclear Association (KNA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in the development of nuclear energy.
The signing took place during the Nuclear Energy Summit 2024, held under the theme “Energy Without Borders: Globalization of the Nuclear Business” from December 3 to 5 in Gyeongju, South Korea.
KNA represents over 50 leading companies and organizations in South Korea, including energy companies, equipment manufacturers, construction firms, and stakeholders from policy, finance, legal, and scientific sectors. The association is committed to enhancing international cooperation in the nuclear sector.
This agreement is a significant step forward for Kazakhstan, where the nuclear industry is in a phase of active development. As the country prepares for the construction of its first nuclear power plant, the MoU opens new opportunities for Kazakhstan to integrate into the global nuclear community and expand international cooperation.
According to Aldiyar Toktarov, Chairman of AIDA:
“The signing of this memorandum strengthens ties between Korea and Central Asian countries, creating a platform for effective dialogue, fostering commercial cooperation, and enabling the exchange of advanced technologies and expertise. South Korea, as a global leader in nuclear energy, will be a valuable partner for Kazakhstan in developing infrastructure, technologies, and training skilled professionals.”
The Nuclear Energy Summit 2024 brought together leading experts, business representatives, and government officials to discuss global challenges and prospects in nuclear energy. The signing of the MoU was one of the conference’s highlights, emphasizing the critical role of international cooperation in ensuring the sustainable development of the nuclear industry.
