Akira Tokuhiro

 

Akira Tokuhiro has over 30 years of experience in nuclear engineering, energy R&D, and technology development, recognized for innovative, results-driven thinking. He has deep expertise in reactor concepts (LWR/SBWR, SFR/LMFBR, SMRs) and comprehensive knowledge of the Fukushima accident, serving on the ANS President’s Committee from 2011-2013. As a former Director of the University of Missouri-Rolla Research Reactor and licensed Senior Reactor Operator, he managed safety, compliance, and R&D.

He has published 190+ papers, guided 40+ graduate students, and led 80+ young engineers in interdisciplinary research. His technical knowledge spans reactor safety, thermohydraulics, computational fluid dynamics, and energy policy. Proficient in nuclear codes (RELAP5-3D, CAFTA, Vensim DICE), he’s also fluent in Japanese and experienced in alternative energy systems, project leadership, proposal writing, and consulting.
