Statement from the Atomic Industry Development Association of Kazakhstan

The Atomic Industry Development Association of Kazakhstan fully supports the Government’s initiative to construct the country’s first nuclear power plant (NPP).

Every nation experiences pivotal moments that determine the future of generations to come. One such moment for us is the decision on building a nuclear power plant – a choice that will define whether we move towards technological and industrial progress or remain an economy reliant solely on the extraction and export of raw materials.

It is my duty, shared by my colleagues in the Association, to do everything in our power to leave our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren a prosperous and developed country.

The Almighty has blessed Kazakhstan with unique uranium reserves, which, combined with skilled and dedicated management, have made our country a global leader in uranium production. Today, leading nations rely on Kazakhstan’s success story for their own progress and growth. The time has come for us to harness the benefits of peaceful nuclear energy to advance our nation.

Our land and people have endured the devastating effects of nuclear weapons. I believe that such a tragedy not only left scars on our history but also granted Kazakhstan the unique moral right to lead in peaceful nuclear initiatives. The Kazakh people’s support for the peaceful use of nuclear energy is not merely a commercial matter – it is a sign of the maturity of our nation, which, moving beyond youthful idealism, soberly evaluates the best prospects for its future.

This is one of the few industries where Kazakhstan holds a leading position on the global stage and can effectively advocate its agenda in international forums.

This is also an industry that opens up opportunities for successful careers for tens of thousands of Kazakhstanis. It is the field in which I have found my purpose, and I want my fellow citizens to have the chance to build a prosperous future for themselves, their children, and to lay a strong foundation for our country’s progress.

It is an industry that, without fanfare, tirelessly supports the economic growth of the world’s most developed countries, regardless of time or weather conditions. I want our Republic to have the opportunity to join their ranks, and I am confident that the nuclear industry will provide us with this chance.

On behalf of myself and my colleagues in the Atomic Industry Development Association, I responsibly declare that we will make every effort to ensure that this project brings maximum benefit to the people and businesses of our country.

Sincerely,
Aldiyar Toktarov
Chairman of the Atomic Industry Development Association
